OVER 40 FAMILY HEALTH ALERT
Stroke Scans Scheduled on Tuesday, October 18
Our church is hosting vascular health screenings by Stroke Scan on Tuesday, October 18thfor the Garland chapter of the Texas Retired Teachers Association. OUR CHURCH MEMBERSHIP IS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE.
These ultra-sound imaging tests are for detecting fatty plaque in critical arteries. This fatty plaque develops from the food we eat, our LDL cholesterol production and family history. Plaque in vital arteries causes interruption in blood flow which leads to strokes, aneurysms and heart attacks if left undetected and untreated…most often without warning or symptoms. Early detection is vital for the successful treatment. The cost of $110 for the vascular profile, atrial fibrillation and free bone density is a small fraction of the cost for the same tests in a hospital lab of over $1500. The screenings are painless, non-intrusive and private. If you have two or more of the risk factors noted below, it is recommended to have annual testing. Do not forget your spouse and other family members for this low cost wellness screening event.
If you are over 40 and have either high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, overweight, lack exercise, smoke, have diabetes or have a family history of stroke or heart disease…YOU ARE AT RISK.
You must have an appointment for the tests…register after worship services on October 16th when a representative will be present in the vestibule area or call toll free 1-866-935-7226 for the necessary appointment time. There is no payment until the time of tests. Are you at risk?

Mission Trip Team Leaders Training
Additional mission trip team leaders sought for FUMC’s future efforts in disaster recovery.
Saturday, August 20 – 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
(lunch included) North Texas Conference Ministry Center in Plano.
FUMC people can expect to receive numerous opportunities to make up mission teams to go and give help – to go and be hope in Christ’s name. We can expect such opportunities for many months – if not several years – to come.
To respond as Jesus would seek to lead us, a new roster of Mission Trip Team Leaders will need to be raised up, trained, and commissioned to this good work. Consider this opportunity for yourself.
See Clay Womack if you are interested in this training.
