Re-Creational Outreach Center (ROC)
First Church is a sustaining partner in Metro Family Ministries at the ROC — a nonprofit ministry center serving west Garland. The "ROC" (Re-Creational Outreach Center) is a unique, ecumenical ministry enterprise undertaken by First United Methodist Church and Freeman Heights Baptist Church. Current ministries operating at the ROC:
- Crisis Pregnancy Center
- Sonshine Clothing Closet for expectant mothers and infants/toddlers
- ROC Food Pantry
- English-As-Second Language classes
- Women's Sewing group
- Kids' Judo Club
- Monday Evening Youth Clubross Trainers children's group
- Iglesia Bautista Vision de Dios (Hispanic, multicultural fellowship w/services & activities in both Spanish and English)
- Iglesia Bautista "El Paraiso" (Hispanic fellowship with services & activities in Spanish)
- ROC'n Summer children's day camp & lunch program
- August "Back-to-School" Health Fair
- Christmas Holidays Neighborhood Party
Home Work Connection
The Homework Connection is a Monday/Wednesday afternoon Christian nurture and academic tutorial ministry staffed exclusively by First Church volunteers.

Volunteers are needed for Mondays & Wednesdays
3:30 to 5 p.m.

“ROC-a-Bye Baby Drive”
Collection boxes are in the Garden Room, by 9th
St. door, sanctuary narthex, and by the church office on Sunday,
November 4 & 11 for your donations of new & used baby items
including: diapers, wipes, formula, clothes up to 4T, socks,
underwear, baby equipment of all types, and maternity clothes.

Homework Connection Needs Games!
New or gently used games are needed. Bring games
to the
Church office or contact Luann Dubach, 972-824-8622.
