Children’s Sunday school for All Ages

Classes meet on the second floor each Sunday beginning at 9:30 and ending at 10:40 a.m. for children ages 2 through 6 grade.

Experienced teachers working in tandem provide an enriching experience of Jesus’ love for all people, especially children. The curriculum is United Methodist and designed for children to hear the Bible in ways they can understand.

At First Church there are two goals for Sunday school: one, that each child will experience God’s love and two, they will thereby know they are a child of God.

For more information or questions on Children's Sunday school, call Caroline Noll 972-272-3471 or email at  cnoll@fumcgarland.org.

Nursery

Childcare during worship is available on the 2nd Floor. Enter through the west ninth street door and ascend the first stair case or if entering through the sanctuary the doors next to the chancel lead directly to the nursery stair case. Lana Halbert our Mother’s Day Out coordinator, supervises the Nursery during worship services.

Sixth Grade Confirmation

The sixth grade Sunday school serves as the Confirmation class for boys and girls 12-13 years of age. The class begins in August with the school year and concludes in May. During the year students learn what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and about becoming a United Methodist.

A variety of interesting field trips are planned including a visit to Temple Emanu-el, a Sunday morning trip to St Luke’s Community church to be part of the African American style of worship, a visit to a Roman Catholic Church and, in the spring, activities that begin the transition into youth fellowship.

Pastors and staff participate by teaching monthly segments of the curriculum entitled “Claim the Name”, developed by the United Methodist Publishing house and written by Dallas minister Reverend Walt Marcum. The high point of the class is reached two weeks after Easter when students are offered the opportunity to become members of Christ’s Church and United Methodist.

For more information or questions on Confirmation, call Caroline Noll 972-272-3471 or email at  cnoll@fumcgarland.org.
